The Weekend

I pulled up at Sonny’s BBQ and waited until I spotted Lindsey’s Grey 2018 Mazda. I waited until she stepped out before I slid out of my car.

“I’m so glad we were able to meet,” Lindsey said as she walked over to me.

The strong wind hit across my face and I quickly pulled my black scarf around my throat. We headed inside Sonny’s and took a seat by the window and waited for the waitress to come and take our order.

When our orders were taken, and our drinks were set in front of us that’s when we finally began to start a conversation.

“While I was in New York for my photo shoot, I overheard a model talking about you.”

I stopped sipping on my sweet tea and gave her my full attention.

“What exactly did she say?” I asked.

Lindsey smiled.

“Nothing but amazing things about you. To be honest I’m just shocked that you would even want to work with me. I’m not very well known.”

I rolled my eyes.

“You don’t have to be very well known to be a great model. You have the beauty for it. Everyone has their time to shine. Not everyone blows up quick, but once they do it’s a wrap. You are working under a contract with Victoria Secrets and they have so many models that have blown up and have become millionaires. I’m not going to lie, the ones who bring in the most money they are constantly going to call them in for work. If you aren’t being called in on the regular it's only because you’re a newbie. Once you get over the threshold of being a newcomer you will be getting calls just as much as the ones who have a big name. I have faith in you.”

Lindsey stared at me for the longest moment. I couldn’t even look away from her penetrating eyes. It was something about her that made me feel all warm inside. Never have I ever been attracted to a female and I never questioned my sexuality until now.

When the food arrived, we dug in. We laughed and talked about where we wanted to be in the next five years. Halfway through the meal, I was eager to get to know Lindsey on a deeper level.

“So, how long have you been married?” I asked Lindsey curiously.

Lindsey beamed.

“I’ve been married to Carter for five years. I don’t have any kids biologically, but I consider his ten-year-old daughter Charity my own. Her mother gave her up when she was only a baby so I’m the only mother that she has ever known. Most people aren’t happily married, but I’m proud to say that Carter and I are a very happy couple. We have a great relationship and I couldn’t ask for more,” Lindsey stated emotionally.

“Does he support your dream of one day becoming an established model?”

“Yes, he has always pushed me on making all my dreams come true. He is very supportive of what I do.”

I watched her closely as I slid the last bite of ribs into my mouth.
